It was a pretty good day, despite picking up a mild cold overnight. I finished a book, read large portions of two others… neglected all the chores I said I would do while on vacation, voted in the primary, had dinner at a favorite restaurant, and watched some hockey. It would be foolish to complain.

Yesterday, to celebrate my vacation, birthday, and the completion of law school applications, I had a cigar. This was a wonderful thing while I actually smoked it. I’ve always had a soft spot for the smell and taste of cigar smoke. The problem is that I do this around once every nine to twelve months. That means that when I finished this mammoth cigar, I walked back inside to warm up and immediately felt a little ill for the next hour and a half. I made a note to myself that certain pleasures are not worth the sick feeling in my stomach. Upon coming in, I could not help noting the other, larger, cigar. It had been purchased for another event worth marking. I shall have to decide what to do with it. I’m not so sure I’ll smoke it anymore.
