Best of Some Such or Other

This is one of many best of lists you might see this year. Note how many entries from Knopf and Viking. Sometimes I wonder if some publishing houses just have good connections, but paying attention to what houses turn out books you like is usually quite a good idea. The ones that you think do good work are likely to have an editor worth trusting.
