Digital Love and Theft

September 7th, 2006

Aislinn gets it right on the subjecto of Snakes on a Plane. Half the people I know, if asked how much illicitly acquired data they go through in a day would have to give the answer in gigs. I think Tycho once used the phrase “bathing in a sea of illegal data,” but I’m too lazy to look it up. Indeed, I would say that illegal data downloads were the porn of our day, (cheap, easy, often of dubious quality) if not for the fact that 80% of it is probably actually porn. Indeed, the net seems to only support two enterprises right now, porn and T-Shirt companies.

    The font, man! The font!

That’s Aislinn posting, in other words. Also, does a Modded Xbox and a very large TV and so on sound like something a philosophy graduate student would own? Because all my friends are either your friends too or philosophy graduate students….

(In other news, I’m actually (tentatively) planning on paying to go see that movie this weekend.)

I’ve fixed the misattribution. Modded xboxes don’t seem too crazy to me, but then I work with 13 other people, any of whom would be crazy enough to do that.

Also, I don’t see a difference in the font, but your point still stands.

I don’t think they’re crazy either - but it’s not exactly the sort of hobby or setup you find in people aspiring to 12K a year either.
