When I was Drinking
January 15th, 2006
I’m listening to the song of the same name by Hem. Wizard and I made a liquor store run tonight. We got the basics. Gin, bourbon, scotch, rye… we didn’t get vodka. Chaya drinks that faster than we do and so we generally don’t bother buying that. She can get it her damn self. Chaya, if you’re reading this, we love you and want you to buy vodka. Anyhow it may seem odd that we got that many things. As fans of mixed drinks we tend to switch it up a lot. (note: This is a lie mostly I just pour scotch or let Wizard do the dirty work. He’s a better mixologist than I.) This means that we go through a bunch of stuff at similar rates. It also means that tonight looked intimidating. We had a lot of stuff that was running low, and we aren’t exactly rolling in dollars. Hell I couldn’t fill the bathtub with pennies right now. Actually I could probably do that. But who would want to… I’ll have to make a note of that one.
Anyhow we went and got some stuff, what struck me was that it doesn’t actually take a lot of cash to maintain a bar that will allow you to mix everything you want. The key is knowing the right brands. If you know a few ‘cheap’ brands you’ll be able to mix what you want pretty much all the time for under 20 a week.
Anyhow I’ll go into that more tomorrow. Right now people are watching a movie in the living room without subtitles. I don’t think anyone knows what’s going on. I’m headed that way myself. And with that…
